Re: Correct dated hose clamps
I sure hope you guys are talking heater hose clamps and NOT radiator hose clamps.
BTW: Look at the diameter of the drive screw on the tower clamps. The reproduction tower clamps have a larger diameter screw than originals. There is also a difference int he finish of the band between originals and reproductions. Original material for the band is galvanized sheet.Terry- Top

Re: Correct dated hose clamps
Read the 1970-72 TIM&JG Rich. Nowhere does it mention dates on Radiator hose clamps -- because there are none. Come on we don't teach reading here. Sometimes we all need an adjustment on reading comprehension though.Terry- Top

Re: Correct dated hose clamps
Did you mean: anachronism? I don't do real well with riddles.
TIM&JG = Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide.
Right at the top of this page is a blue bar. In white letters is a radio button marked "NCRS Store." Click on it and you will find a drop-down bar with "C3 Library." that will give you this page:
Those with other year Corvettes will find their generation also listed in the drop-down box. If you intend to own your Corvette for a while, even if you never intend to have it judged, a library including the appropriate TIM&JG, FSM (Factory Service Manual) and AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) is a great help.
After that you might want to consider attending some NCRS Meets and perhaps even take in an Advanced Judging Seminar. Class dismissed for today.Terry- Top

You heard right -- we have been at the up-date for a year (or so) now. I make no representations about when that up-date will be ready for prime time.Terry- Top

I own 3 versions (and I'm sure Terry owns more), and the $35 is nominal in the cost of the car.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: Correct dated hose clamps
I posted this once before but it's worth posting again.
I was cad plating my 63 & 67 hardware when I decided to plate all the other things that could go to these cars.
I looked in my clamp box and it had about a hundred clamps, some plated and some not.
So I started reading the dates and found 12 of one and 8 of another and they seemed to be in sets. Then I remembered that a 6 cylinder aircraft engine took 12 and the 4 cylinder took 8.
Well they were the same clamps that were also used on cars and we would replace them at overhaul with a worm clamp or replate them and use them again.
So what I am saying is that there are a lot of these clamps in shops that do aircraft engine work.

The closest I got to my 67 was 4/66 but found some 1962 and others- Top

Ok AIM done..found at Carlisle..hose clamps..no go..lots of junk there..looked at almost everything I could..most of the clamps were rusted..and from what you said coach..they were galvanized..I did meet John..a fuel injection guy..says he knows the big T..and since the jg is a ways away I will pick up one of those also..I was under the assumption that it would be done sooner! Sorry I couldn't help you with the clamps!- Top

Yep, tower clamps are galvanized -- but they will rust. They can be re-plated, but it is a PITA and rarely looks original when done.Terry- Top
