      Ed,

If I eliminate the "I", wouldn't the date be September?

Okay, Jerry I received some data and the is no {I)SO Your master is Sept. which works better for your car. Now I have a question for you, Does the font on the cap have 1/8"letters or are they 1/4" thanks Ed. Oh the R-2 must be some sort of casting /mold no. I have a J10 casting in my collection and it has the bigger letters.

            Ed,

The letters on the cap are 1/4". Is there a relevance to the size? Also, I'd like to freshen up the m/c. Can I use that Stove Black polish that has a dull finish on the m/c?

Jerry, when you look at the judge guide it only spells out 1/8 inch letters, I Believe that he early master cylinders had the bigger letters. I think a semi flat or Satin Black will work just fine.

The stove black will take the engine compartment heat better.

                  Ed,

That 1/4" size would coincide with my 10/31/62 build date. So far all the research I'm doing and finding is leading to a very original car. Kind of nice.
