    58-61 RPO 684/687 270hp

How many of you veterans have seen a legitimate RPO brake car that is a 270 hp car? What would you say the ratio between RPO brake fuelies and 270 cars might be?
    Interested in your input!
    Thanks!

Mike, I just purchased last fall a 60 the is a big brake 270HP. Have it traced back to the person who purchased it in 1969 in Ogden Utah. Four owners since and no one knew it was a big brake car. All big brake parts are there with the exception of the front and rear scoops.

Are these that rare, or is this a big ho-hum? I'm not interested in buying, just interested in researching.
          Thanks!!

Tom Kidd in Pennsylvania has the Art Saylor 57 black red CAL-CLUB SCCA racer RPO 684 270 hp car. Vin 6338, 2nd from end of production. Dick Robinson restored it years ago for Frank Buck. Howard Goehring from South Dakota, now Mesa, AZ, bought the car from the two brothers who bought it from Art's brother. Car has really neat history and photos and original service orders with the vin number from selling dealer Hansen Chevrolet, Los Angeles.

Mike, getting back to your original question. I think the 270HP Big Brake cars are very rare scince most you see are fuel cars. I would love to know what the break down is between FI and 270HP.

i remember seeing that car at howards shop in tea, sd. in the late 70's, $10,000 asking price as i recall, that was back when you could buy 3 or 4 nice running cars for that amount, so i passed on it.

Isn't Hansen the same dealer who sponsored Hooper's white '57?

                          Paul--
So far a 57, 58, your 60, my 61 and another 61 are the total responses I've received. How about if we start touting them as "rarer than an airbox car"--will that bring any more out?

It MAY bring some more "out"; it will CREATE some more assembly lines......

We just had a new supervisor moved in from another plant. Seems like his dad has a few Corvettes including a '60 270 that has the wide wheels. I didn't have the chance to ask if it is a big brake car. I'll pursue it further.
