1957 WCFB drip from squirter/pump jet after shutdown

I just helped a friend rebuild the primary (rear) carb on his '57 283/270. The carb had a bad float. We replaced the float, cleaned everything thoroughly and made all the adjustments according to the kit. The car ran fine after installation, but at shutdown there is some dripping from the squirter/pump jet.

I've looked in the archives and seen suggestions regarding bad needle and seat, but these were replaced during the rebuild. Could the primary float be too high (the level spec in the kit is 1/8 in. and the drop 5/8 in.)?

I also saw comments in the archives about fuel pressure. The pump is the correct one (can't remember the numbers offhand but we checked it when it was removed) for the engine and was recently rebuilt by a vendor in NY recommended by board members.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

sounds like the fuel is boiling in the pump well if it is coming out of the pump shooter. if the float level was too high the fuel would be coming out of the boosters nozzles.
