As many of you know, I've been working on an orange 72 the past few years, car #7564. Back in early 2007 the car's owner was living in Japan and contacted me through a local Corvette club as he needed some work performed on it after his mother and stepfather found that it was leaking fuel. After inspecting the car I discovered how original it was and offered my services as long as he didn't mind my schedule and since he was still not expecting to be moving back to the US for a while. After intermittently working on it in his grandmother's barn for 1 1/2 years it came to our place on Dec 31, 2008. I did a lot of work to it for him since that time and finally finished this week. My son Ryan, now 15, helped me with much of the work and learned a lot about Corvettes in the process. In addition the car was used for an NCRS judging school about a month ago.
Yesterday the owner came and picked it up. We had previously agreed that it would be ready Easter weekend. He moved north of Chicago in late 2009, had a chance to drive it for 2 days in May last year and has been waiting since then for projects on it to be finished. It was with mixed feelings that I watched it leave the driveway and go off down the road. As it drove off into the distance Ryan turned to me and said, "What are we going to do now?"
I think he has the bug....
Here is the car as found in 2007:

Ryan frustrated at trying to install the gas tank:

August 14, 2007 - the car leaves the barn for the first time since 1993 and has a wash.
It was also the first time the owner saw the car since '93:
