    Fan Clutch testing

Is there any way to test a fan off the car.

Below is the original fan clutch from my 67 327/300:

Cosmetically, it is really not in too bad a shape, with a little cleanup.

At room temperature off the car, there is quite a bit of resistance to turning the shaft.

Is there a way to test the fan clutch to original specs while off the car?

    Happy Easter, Jerry

I can't answer you question with regard to testing the clutch off the car. Fred Oliva once told me over the phone the best way is to run the car and get it good and hot then stop the engine and take notice if the fan turns more than four turns.

Freewheeling is not good as you well know, I don't know what testing equipment is now used but he told me most fan clutches he has restored don't have any oil left because they leak out of the seal..
