JL re Air Cleaner Duct GM# 00368684

    He Joe

need some help again. This is the air cleaner duct used on late model C3s for L48 and L82 applications. This particular number has the correct clips, correcting meaning same as PRODUCTION ducts but this part features the vinyl material rather than the paperlike material used on PRODUCTION units.

Sometime later the clips were changed to a metal clasp.

What can you telling me about PRODUCTION numbers vs SERVICE and succeeding numbers...thanks.

There was only one part number for the duct, PRODUCTION and SERVICE, and that part number is GM #368684. There was no predecessor part number and no supercessive part number. In fact, the GM #368684 is still available to this day.

However, there's no guarantee that the part first used for 1978 is exactly the same as the part sold today under the original part number. It's very possible that changes to the specifications for the part occurred over the 34 years this piece has been available.

Most interesting. We knew that the SERVICE replacements showed both a clip change and material change. This part I have shows only the material change with the clip being the same as PRODUCTION. Thanks Joe
