66-67 small block fan shroud fiberglass gray color?

I have found that the Sb 66-67 natural fiberglass shroud color varies.dark gray and medium gray. I would like some input of original shroud owners who might have what I call a medium gray, and anyone who has one or two of the three glued shroud pieces with mixed grays. my original one has the two side pieces that are the dark charcoal gray and the top section is the medium gray.my 67 car was built the third day of production in 66. I also have a original shroud that is all medium gray. was there a switchover point in manufacturing where the colors changed?

In general they were what we term as black for most, even in 65 with the 396, but there were variations of color. Some were lighter. There were also some sold over the counter as complete units that were lighter gray.

My original fan shroud is medium gray on a April 22,1966 small block. I believe the darker gray glass was seen later in 1966 and in 1967.

As Peter said for his car, the original shroud on my July 20 build date '66 is almost black.

My May 5th or 6th SB is almost black at the very least, I'd call it charcoal.

Charcoal for all the 66 67 BB and SB shrouds I've seen or repaired recently. I guess one could say some were a medium gray, but still dark and charcoal looking. If you are referring to the light almost white gray, that was a 70's 80's thing and you will very much likely find GT logos in the same are as the part numbers because that is who was making the service parts and you'll also find that those parts are twice a heavy, a resultant of being nearly two times the original thickness. They are wonderfully strong but easy to spot as not being original...
