Joe, for judging the closest you can get is Restoration Batteries R-79S. The new ones actually have a modern sealed battery inside them. You may still get a minor deduction in judging. For actual everyday or weekend driving I would recomend a Delco 78 DT 7 Year battery. They fit the battery box with no problem and secure down correctly. Also they have 2 sets of terminals. The second set of terminals on top of the battery make hooking up a charger very easy. I have both. I only use the R79S for judging.

Thanks for your recommendations. I am trying to get it ready for the Wildwood show. This is the first time for me. I am viewing it as a learning experience.

I believe a correctly sized Delco would receive a 50% deduction for originality or 15 points out of 30.

Mike, the service repalcement Delco battery I recomended has both side and top terminals. Accoring to the Judging Reference Manual this configuration may result in 100 % Deduction. Service repalcement Delcos corrcetly sized with the appropriate top or side post configuration should as Donald said receive a 50 % Deduction.
