62 Mechanical fuel pump

I have a new mechanical fuel pump, but need to move the inlet/outlet to the correct position....question please: remove the screws holding the bottom to the top and spin it, leaving the four other screws tight?? It does not seem to want to release, ?? tap with rubber mallet?? Don't want to mess it up!!
