    Ted, I haven't had the operational problem with mine but did have some antifreeze on the intake. It was a loose rad hose for antifreeze on the front of the manifold. Near the rear I had a bad gasket. Not bad for 45 years and 2 builds I guess.

      Ted, I assume the '57 engine is in a '57 body and chassis. I would recommend putting a 160 degree thermostat in instead of the 180. On my '56 years ago that particular thermostat was way too hot and I could not stand to operate the heater. I switched to a 160 degree and had no further problems. My car is now being restored and I will put in a new 160 degree thermostat. I wish you all the best with your car and project. Brooks Glover (2141)
