What is correct for a 300 hp? Is the center pipe welded to the muffler or not?

Re: 1963 Exhaust System
Any aftermarket systems that use a three piece assembly are always evident from the back of the car. You can't hide the muffler clamp at the lowest place in the assembly. Now back in the day, if you were using "Cherry Bombs" or some other glass/steel pack mufflers, Hey!, who cares! But today with any decent Vette pretending to look stock or original it would be wrong or at least Tacky.

Re: 1963 Exhaust System
the 63 exhaust system differed from the 64-67 in that the joint or method of insertion between the header pipe and the intermediate pipe differed. i can never remember whether the header inserted inside the intermediate pipe or whether it inserted over the intermediate pipe. which ever way it was for the 63's, the 64-7 was opposite. i'm not close to my parts books but am sure someone else can sort it out for us. mike- Top

Re: 1963 Exhaust System
Mike, I believe the header pipe was outside the intermediate pipe for 63.Mike
