    '70 LT-1 Hood Stripe

I used a new stencil supplier for the stripe on the hood. The lines went out a little farther on the front than the others I have used. I had to do it this way to get all of it to line up. I don't want to redo unless it is wrong. I would appreciate some input. Thanks!!

Kim, I'm sure that others will chime in on this one, but here's my take. I compared the placement of the decals on your hood with my hood decals and it appears that the decals on your hood are substantially farther forward than are mine (maybe as much as 3 inches). Mine is a repaint, but I think that the painter positioned my decals correctly. Also, I think that the AIM has specific measurements for the placement of the decals.

    Thanks,

    Ken

      Kim,

Here's a scan of the page from the AIM for 1972 that shows placement of the hood stripe.

I believe that the overall location is the same from '70 thru '72; the only difference that I'm aware of is width of the stripes.

        Kim,
You might take a look Stencils and Stripes. This is the company I used for the hood striping for my '72 LT-1. Mine turned out very accurate.

Are you sure you had to do it that way? Could you not have overlapped the front and rear stencils on the side and trimmed them to get the front closer to the hood louvers? I would expect what you have would result is some deduction, but then I don't judge exterior and I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

            KIM,

It appears to me that the stripe is too far forward. I've attached a photo of my '72 hood. Hope this helps.
