Are the words "Truck" and "Pass" on a 4351, 427 Block

Can someone verify that the words 'Truck" and "Pass" are underneath the "Hi-Perf" symbol on a 4351, 427 Block? Thanks. Chuck

I would imagine so; although I don't have a '67 block. I base this on what's on my '65 '961' block (see pic below of HI PERF, with PASS underneath). Also, on back of block (hidden by the bellhousing) is HI PERF, then TRUCK, then PASS.

Thanks for responding. It appears that is correct and the word "Truck" is on every 4351 block produced, 2 bolt main or 4 bolt main? I guess it's also on other year bg blocks as well. Thanks. Chuck

I have seen it on some early C3s. I never paid much attention to which casting numbers, and only notice it if around the casting number or date.

Where can the casting date be found on a 1967 427/435 hp cylinder casing be found? Thanks, Al Dieterle

I am sure I could be wrong on this, but for a '351 block there is no difference in the 2 bolt vs 4 bolt as it was cast. The difference comes in the final machining where the 4 bolt gets (obviously) the 4 bolt caps, the oil cooler provision, and the deck notched to unshroud the valves.

I have heard of at least 1 person turning a 2 bolt block into a 4 bolt by drilling and tapping for the oil cooler and 4 bolt caps.

Alan, the cast date is on the passenger side just above the pan. In my case its C 21 7. (March 21 1967---- April 10 body build date)

                  Stephen,
Can the date be seen while the casing is in the car and the starter is mounted?
Is the motor mount in the way? Thanks.

Yes it can, and it is judged . Date is about 1" rearward of the motor mount, and ahead of the starter end. Stephen's pic shows the location (right below the freeze plug) He flipped photo to better show the date.

Thanks. It looks like the block I'm looking at. So, it must be right. Thanks for responding and the pics! Chuck

I beleave that the words were to ideniify Which cores were to be used to cast each block casting configuration. The rear core would be used for all there blocks & that front core only for pass. car big blocks Two bolt & four used the same casting with different machining.

I got my steel 454 cranks from the pick your part yards from truck engines and they said high perf pass on them.

Maybe truck was in there somewhere but I only wanted the bare block and crank.
I still have one and I think I'll take a look.

Thanks to all who responded. The results are in and "yes" it is correct for both the words "Truck" and "Pass" to be on all 4351 blocks regardless of it being a 2 bolt or 4 bolt main. I have the correct block now. Chuck

I've owned my 67 BB for 27 years and have never seen the word 'truck' on it. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place?
