    Neutral safety switch

    Hi friends
I want to mount an "aftermarket" Neutral S.S on my IPG, I have driven without it last summer but think its "difficult" always to remember too look...is it in neutral?
I have bought this Switch by Corvette Central but it seems not to fit which it should??
Maybe some of you have a picture with that type mounted or have some knowledge about it

    Friendly regards
    Jorn

    Re: Neutral safety switch

i purchased corvette centrals neutral saftey switch for our 57 250 iron powerglide and didn't have any troubles mounting it and getting it to function. did you look in the assembly manual for its mounting? the 57 AIM shows how to do it. you'll have to go to the back of the aim where the RPO's are listed. good luck, mike

      Hi Mike
Thanks for answering, but where do i find the 57 AIM, sorry but means "AIM" assembly Instructions Manual?
I see some about it in Nolans Book, Vol 1 page 160, is it what you mean?
Maybe you have a pics from your car which shows it?

      Regards Jorn

AIM is the assebly line instruction manual which chevy provided for its assembly line workers. it is available from the membership guys(gary/eric mortimer)--see top of ncrs homepage.RPO is regular production option,of which the powerglide was one.mike

          Jorn -

See the illustration at the lower left of page 266 in Noland's Vol. I book - it shows the neutral safety switch installation for Powerglide (RPO 313). Suggest you order the Assembly Instruction Manual - it shows every part in the car.

              Hi Mike and John
I have found out what is wrong.I bought this safety switch in 2007 when I started my restoration and I bought it from Lectric Limited inc. and not from Corvette Central and it has item#500104 and "should" fit all automatic Trans.
I will put it on the shelf and ask my wife for more money so I can get the right parts.
Sorry I have take your time with such stupid questions

              Regards Jorn

jorn, your profile shows you have a 59, yet on dec.5 you are asking questions about a 61 or 62 transmission. if for some reason you have a 61 or 62 transmission the neutral safety appears to be in a different position and by 62 the neutral safety switch was completely different. pictures are to be found in nolan's restoration guide, page 363 or paragon's sales book look up "transmission mount related". in my paragon catalog pictures are on pages 48 and 49. if it happens to need the 62 switch, which is a one piece switch and bracket assembly, nos switches are in the $200 plus range.

                  Hi John
Yes thats correct that I have asked about an alu. '61- trans but it was one I have sold which have been in the car, but now(2008) I have bought a newly restored Iron Powerglide for my car.
So I have to find a correct safety switch, fortunately the car can drive without switch

I could make a copy of the RPO 313(Automatic transmission) from the 1960 AIM if that will help. The files are TIFF and you can download a reader if you do not have anything that will read them. Let me know and an e-mail address if you would like a copy.
