Re: spring restorer
They give all the excuses, but never have a solution for the problem. Delivery has been a problem for NCRS since day one. The early mags were mailed out first class and delivery was a problem. I have attended Board of Directors meetings since the mid 1980's and there has been very few meetings that magazine delivery was not brought up during the meeting. Every attempt to make it better has not made a noticeable improvement.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: spring restorer
I receive a couple of other publications that are printed in the same general area as NCRS publications. Delivery is a problem for those pubs. I have talked to the editors of those magazines and they give me basically the same story. The only difference is they have a wider spread in delivery dates than NCRS does. That difference is due to us using a co-mailer, which closes the delivery times up a little.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: spring restorer
The spread is a lot closer than that, on the average. Each mailing is seeded with several names scattered over the US. There are consistant problem areas in mail delivery. PO denies any problems on their part (suprise?).Dick Whittington- Top

Re: spring restorer
I heard there are a LOT more people with last names starting with letters from the 2nd half of the alphabet that commit suicide than there are from the first half. Something about always being last for everything. Supposedly true because DeGregory told me it was.- Top

Re: spring restorer
That does not work today Clem. Maybe 40 years ago. They are sorted by USPS approved software which sorts by ZIP + 4 which tells them which route or carrier delivers them.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: spring restorer
Dick, Do many of the other publications run ads like the Driveline? I realize some like Trader or Hemmings do but wasn't sure about some of the others since the only other publication I get is Handyman. As we all are well aware, the fact the Driveline is time sensitive is what's so aggravating. I thoroughly enjoy the Restorer front to back and the stories Vinnie and the crew put together are the best but whether I'm first or last to receive it doesn't matter, as long as I get it. Not so with the Driveline. I'd volunteer to be one of those "seeded" deliveries if need be, maybe then we'd find out which SOB at the St Louis PO is hiding them if they would have to sign off on them.
Its not just the NCRS. I get my Hemmings in the mail after its already on the news stand, my friend in Rolla Mo gets his Hemmings 2-3 weeks before I do.
The bottom line is that if your bulk mail comes through St Louis you are ___!
