    62 windshield-door posts-tops Assembly sequence summary

    Hello,

Its been a long winter and the 62 just went to the paint shop for the final surface prep and paint. While I am waiting for the 62 to get out of the shop, I am planning the assembly steps and have been going through the archives, summarizing everything from all of the great posts I found in this forum. I just want to verify the following:

1- Doors installed and aligned for proper gaps. - In my case we did not remove the doors and they were good previously.

2- Install Door posts - Limited adjustments can be made - only bolt hole slop (align to the door, but do not fully tighten). Correct?

3- Windshield - Align it properly with the door posts using rubber side shims and movement within T-bolt holes.
    * Car originally had 1 shim on each side, so I will use this as a starting point.
    * Do not tighten the windshield at this point.
    * The rubber shims on the sides are only to align the windshield to the door posts for even gap, Correct?

4- Deck lid (with weather-strip installed) and properly aligned for correct gaps- Hinges not fully tightened at this point.

5- Install Hardtop- Adjust windshield as needed.
    * Even though the deck lid was aligned, I may have to move it slightly forward/backward to align mounting holes, correct? (assuming that the door post to windshield looks good)

6- Tighten door posts, windshield, etc.
7- Adjust door glass height to hardtop weather-strip.
8- Install Soft-top and adjust frame.
9- After all of this is done, plug door post holes, and install the door weather-strip.

Does this seem correct? Anything I overlooked? Any comments?

    Thanks,
    Tony

    Tony--
Seems you're right on to me. Theoretically, that's the process. In real life, there may be more back and forth than anticipated. But the basic premise that you fit the car to the hardtop, then the windows to the hardtop, and then the soft top to the car and windows definitely is the right sequence.
