    56 front motor mounts

    below is a picture of the metal parts of my front motor mounts;
    the ones from the cross brace to the frame mounts.

    1st are they the correct ones?

    2nd the arrows indicate where the rubber flange is supposed
    to go thru the metal piece;
    but.......the rubber flange is about 1/8" to big.
    does one just trim this down a little bit?

    thanks
    iowa

      I'm not a 56 guy, but I have owned about 40 solid-axles, and I'm going to take a shot. The three separate metal pieces, in my opinion, are pieces that were part of the rubber motor mount pieces originally, and became separated from them. They were bonded to the rubber center core, and then "skinned" with a thin coating of rubber. If you were to dissect your new rubber mounts, you'd find those pieces in them. Short answer: you don't need those three metal pieces--they're already in the mounts.

          you were right!
          the metal pieces are embedded in the rubber
          as is okay now
          thanks for all your help
