    A/C on 65 solid lifter 365hp ?

I am at BJ looking to bid on a 65' 365hp car. I don't believe it was offered with A/C because of the solid lifters. The car doesn't have A/C, but I would want too add vintage air. would this be a problem ?

C60 was an available option on '64-'65 L-76, but not on L-84 due to the air cleaner precluding moving the alternator to the LH side.

I have no idea how hard it would be to add aftermarket AC.

You might want to look around for a real C60/L76 - rare, but they are out there.

Vintage air has shown up on L-84's as well.

Ron -- if you're not too concerned with matching numbers on the drivetrain, IMO, it'd be easier to buy an original air conditioned car and plunk a 327 built to 365 horse specs and compatible equipment.

And for a LOT cheaper than anything you're likely to run across at BJ. My opinion (worth almost nuthin') is that to buy a 365 car at BJ and then hurt the originality with add on AC defeats the purpose of payin' the big bucks that cars typically fetch there. On toppa' that, you might like an L79 better anyway if you're plannin' on ridin'. I've got a 65 L79 factory air coupe and it's arguably one of the best cars I've got to ride/cruise, etc. (not for sale)

I won lot 675.1 the 65 Blk/red ragtop at $51,000. Which I am very happy about. After careful consideration I am bagging the A/C idea. The car has POP, owner history and frame off 1500 miles ago, great look stamp pad and broaches. The tux. black w/red gut is a killer combo. The seller got $59,000 at Amelia Island last month, but had $65k reserve. Now he gets $51,000 <$5100> to craig Jackson = $45,900.... ouch. His loss is my gain !!!

If I get hot, the top comes down !!!

                Ron,

Congrats on the purchase! Sounds like a beautiful ride.

FWIW - AC was an option with the 365 horse cars. A member here in So. Cal. just sold his Black/silver two top vert, 365 horse, KOs and original AC that was also a Duntov car - amazing car. It was displayed at the San Jose Nationals.

                Enjoy the car

Beautiful car! Stunning color combination. I read the description. How much does the non-G.M. VIN influence the value?

                    Martin:

I dont think its an issue. There is a letter from the resto shop confirming it was damaged during resto. And a letter from State of Tennessee that they issued a state VIN plate. According to rules, this is acceptable for flight judging.
