    Midyear Door Striker Adjustment

Is there any logical process to go through to adjust the door striker (I think that's what you call it) on a midyear coupe? My door lines up OK, but how do I know the striker is correctly oriented on the body vis a vis the latch coming out of the back of the door? I've tried to visually check it as I slowly close the door from about any angle I can think of and there doesn't appear to be any way to see the relationship of these two pieces at the moment the come together. Is the a simple trick I'm missing? How was this adjustment made at the factory? Thanks.

Steve its a trail and error, your looking for the door to latch easily and alignment to be correct as possiable, sometimes you can get it first time and other times it may take you 15 minutes.

Steve, put some 'door ease' or wax on the upper and lower horizontal body mounted door striker. Try to see if it's high or low when engaging. Sometimes I slightly loosen the phillips screws and let the door center itself. Good luck!

          Steve,

The 1963 shop manual has a adjustment procedure that may help if you have access to the book.
