Scott, If the axles are assy'd there is one side with a flange(Wheel side) and one side with just the u-joint cups(rear end side). There is no inner or outter side.unless you marked them before dissay. I Believe the factory did have some paint marks for assembly.once there gone you on your own. but I have yet to see a problem if you mix them up.

You didn't lose a needle bearing over the end when assembling did you?

Scott..what type of noise is it..a u joint noise usually happens all the time..is it possible that the rear fluid needs changed..additive and all..

Hi Rich,It started to make a sqweeking noisethen a loud KLUNK, like if the U-joint was dry, I thought the weel or rearend was going to come apart but it never seamed to effect the proformance. But I cant check it right now the motor is geting rebuilt. Whats your thoughts?.

Scott if it is a squeek noise that gets faster with road speed then chances are it is a u joint..unless you have a brake pad squeeking..which can happen..easy to check if it goes away when you hit the brakes..well I guess once you get the motor done..what u joints did you use..it is a massive debate everywhere at which type to use..non grease or grease style..to be true to stock I believe all were non grease..it may also be one of the rear bearings going out also..easy to check them without a motor though..they can clunk if they are falling apart..I have learned over the years that even though you just replaced it ..it doesn't mean that the parts used wont fail earlier than they should..so it could be the u joint..it will just take some diag to put it all together..
