Going through stuff in my shop I found a coil with UC 17X on it and below is embossed "use with external resistor, 12 volts" When tested with my trusty mutimeter primary coil was OK but I couldn't get any resistance reading on the secondary coil. I have a note that says it is fine and came off a 64 FI Corvette. Delco Remy is shown nowhere. In the trash?
Should I throw this coil out?

It's an aftermarket "Standard" brand coil - here's the one they sell today; I keep it in the shop as a "known-good" substitute for trouble-shooting.Attached Files- Top

Thanks guys. In the trash it goes. I always worry that I'm deep sixing some rare piece just because I think that it's no good. Bill- Top

Re: Should I throw this coil out?
I drive by the Standard Motor Products main plant in Long Island City, NY all the time. It's a big building but it looks like they dont use all of it probably because they've offshored a lot of their manufacturing...- Top

Be careful. Those tree hug.......up in the back woods of Maine may take offense in discarding it. Its got some funny juice inside.- Top

Dave-I would never think of throwing it up in the woods. I live on a lake and I simply toss it off the dock. The woods are for drainage oil.Bill
