    69 3x2 vacuum advance

I have the correct distributor, vacuum advance and the metal tube w/ clip but have never seen a 3x2 vacuum advance installation. It looks lhe tube goes to a port on the base of the center carb. The problem is that that port points directly at the choke rod. Does the vacuum advance connect to this port? Thanks for any help and/or photos

The vacuum advance should come off the center carb port and have no problems clearing the choke rod as shown in the attached pictures of my 68. Make sure you are using the correct choke, cover, and rod.

Thanks John, it looks like the difference is in the tube. Yours is curved and mine has an angle with two straight legs

1969 did use a different vacuum advance tube than in 1968 so it could be bent slightly different than what I have. I thought the only real difference was it was slightly longer than in 68, but it should connect up to the carb the same way.

Thanks again John, I took a look today and it seems that I have the wrong rod and cover. I recieved the car partially disassembled with boxes of parts so when I find a part in one of the boxes, I assume that it goes with the car...not always...

Does your choke coil cover have a "curved" top? If so, it's absolutely the wrong one for your application. Your choke coil cover should appear exactly as the one in John's photo.

The 1968 and 1969 L-71/L-68 applications did not use the same choke coil cover. However, the configurations were the same and the two are functionally interchangeable.

Thanks Joe, I don't have the car here but my choke rod exits right in front of the vacuum port, I have ordered a new cover and rod.
