Wonder if anyone in the Charlotte, NC area would have a spare set of used bias ply 7.75-15 tires they would be willing to let me rent to show on my car for my first AACA meet at the Charlotte Auto Fair this weekend. In doing final AACA judging prep for this competition, I just discovered that the radials I run for everyday use on my Top Flight 1965 Coupe will completely put me out of event-scoring competition if I leave them on the car as planned. I have factory spinner wheels on the car and would just exchange tires Friday before the judging on Saturday, and then change them again afterward.
I called Coker Tire and Universal Tire and neither company put that size tire on their truck to sell at the Speedway during the Auto Fair. I can get the tires new and shipped overnight, but the freight cost alone is an additional $400.
An alternative could be to just exchange tires and wheels altogether if a member near Charlotte (or a member driving down to the Auto Fair) has a '65 with correct bia-ply tires on any correct wheel and hubcap for that year.
If you can help me out, please E-mail or contact me. Thank you very much for your time. As always, in the old car hobby, the best people you will meet are the Corvette people.
