Anyone know the 1968 new model year introduction date? I have found a reference which says the car was shown to the press in August of 1967, but no mention of when they began to appear on the showroom floors.

Production shows VIN # 905 was the last unit produced in September of 67. I have no facts, but I'd sure think they appeared sometime in September.Tom Hendricks

Re: 1968 New Model Introduction Date
And five months later, GM had to restrict dealer orders for the new C3, because of unprecedented demand and St. Louis not meeting planned production in any month, due to engineering and work stoppage problems. [letter to all zones -- Feb 29th 1968].- Top

Re: 1968 New Model Introduction Date
I don't know about "hitting the floor," but I have some early trim tag build dates at home. Convertibles, of course. John Hinckley has posted that story here before.
Edit add: 1968 #71 has a trim tag of A (for August) 24. #94 is A30, four working days (not counting Saturday or Sunday) so production was a little slow.
By B 28 they were up to #708, so production ramped up a bit.Last edited by Terry M.; April 5, 2011, 06:10 PM.Terry- Top
