I'm in the process of changing out my heater core on my 1967 small block A/C car and have run into a problem. I have the nine nuts undone from the engine side of the box and have the hoses off. Inside I have the glove box out and the box disconnected from the ducts. It still isn't coming out. Are there some bolts or nuts you cant see without removing something else first? It feels held up on the top portion. Thanks

Steve:
Did you get the nut off the bolt above the accelerator pedal? It should be visible when looking up there on the end of the box.
Even then you may need to pry it off. I used a flexible putty knife and worked it around the edges to finally break the box loose.

Re: 67 Heater Core with A/C Replacement ?
If all the speed nuts outside are off the fan motor housing it should be very loose. The nut inside, from a stud outside coming thru the firewall , above and to the right of the pedal is most probably the problem. Do not pry to hard, it will break the housing. It may have been out before and someone may have used a silicone or other sealant making it very hard to remove.Sounds like your going to put a a/c unit back, factory rebuild or a/m about to do the same thing on my 67 non air car. Let me know. Thanks, Jim- Top

Re: 67 Heater Core with A/C Replacement ?
Thanks everyone for the good advice. It was the bracket above the accelerator pedal that was holding things up. I couldn't see it at all with the padding and the A/C vent in the way. Along with a few good pulls the box is out. Thanks- Top
