57 Judging Help - distributor ID plate question

    I have a 57 model vin 1257 produced Dec 11 56. 2 questions:

    1) would this be a dual point distributor

    2) would it have an ID band around the base or an ID plate on the body. If the latter would the plate be attached by screws or rivets?

    Thanks

    Ken

Re: 57 Judging Help - distributor ID plate question

Carbureted engines used the '891 distributor, dual point, used with the short cap, the part number would be on a metal label on the side of the cast iron housing which is attached to the housing with two rivets, one at each end of the label that has the part number and date stamped into it, and a delco remy logo etched into the painted surface. (etched isn't the proper term, but if you take a look I think you will understand.)
