I was wondering if I should start registering my 72 driver as a Sportsman. In reading about the requiremants it says no body modifications. Would a big block hood on a base car be considered a body mod or would in this case be stock appearing?

Re: Sportsman display
Keith, If you are driving your Corvette to a meet, sign up for Sportsman. Although I haven't looked at the manual lately, I always thought Sportsman was ANY Corvette that is driven to the meet. Usually Sportsman have a special parking area and you can accumulate national Sportsman points to get an award (see the judging manual for details). "Drive 'em," trailers are for horses! Good luck, Don H.Last edited by Don H.; April 3, 2011, 10:48 PM.- Top

Re: Sportsman display
Never read the rules in detail on this topic, but I would think your hood will not keep you from displaying in Sportsman.Tom Hendricks

Re: Sportsman display
Keith,
The stock appearing reference for Sportsman refers to the cars that will be parked on the judging field for the duration of the event. For those that are used for transportation and will be coming and going from the event, the appearance standard is a bit lower. Either way, having a big block hood on your small block shouldn't be a problem in Sportsman.

Re: Sportsman display
does sportsman mean a daily driver? my car is far from perfect but shows mostly original with no modifications. could i display my car in sportsman with the chips, scratches and tired interior? i think that would be an honor to park with other great cars.
take care,

Re: Sportsman display
Sure Matt, your Corvette is exactly what the Sportsman class is all about. The Corvette could be a daily driver, or a weekend cruiser, or a weekend warrier -- the way you use your Corvette doesn't matter for Sportsman. There have even been unfinished restorations in the Sportsman class. Just about the only requirement, beyond meet registration and proof of insurance, is to drive the Corvette onto the Sportsman parking.Terry- Top
