Supply Tank Refinishing

My tank is original and has some surface pitting, etc. I've tried aluminum polich to no avail. Any other suggestions, short of sending it out to a polisher?

The tanks were not bright when new. I always used a mild phosphoric acid solution (2-4%) a gray Scotchbrite pad, and LOTS of water. Wet thoroughly before you start and after you finish. Always wear eye protection, and unless you care for seriously dried out skin, wear gloves

Depending upon how bad the surface pitting is, I don't think you're going to be able to remove it and end up with a serviceable tank. These tanks are pretty thin. To remove the pitting, you're going to have to make areas of the tank even thinner.
