The horns that are on my car are completely wrong. When bolted to the radiator core support, both of my horns are pointed upwards and fill up with water.
I am looking at another set of horns which we believe aer for a '64, but wanted to be sure that are the correct horns for my car. I have a '64 (March 16, 1964). One horn has a date code of 4C4 (March 4th) and the second horn is dated 4D? (April 1964), a month late for my car. I have not found a complete part number, only 9000 on both horns. From the Judging Guide, I need part number 9000487 & 9000488. Does this number appear anywhere on the horns?
I am not sure about the configuration of the brackets. One bracket positions the horn about 2 inches from the mounting service. Looks more like the right horn bracket for a '63 shown in the Judging guide. But the end of this bracket is not "square ended", but the end of the bracket is cut at a slant. Also the mounting hole is taped with threads. With the angle that the bracket is connected to the horn, there is no way to position this horn to hang down, it would point almost horizontally with the opening pointing toward the left side horn.
The other bracket only positions the horn a small way out from the support, the this bracket is also cut off slanted and it tapped with threads.
Could these be Corvette horns or off of some other GM Model?
I have attached some pictures for reference.
