    C2 dash restoration

The vinyl is cracked on my dash pads, anyone had experience with
    Dash Restorations USA.
They said they repair the foam and use a vacuum form to pull the skin on this should be much better than just glue. Any advice would be helpfull.

I haven't had any experience with "Dash Restorations USA".

I would question a new replacement pad against a repair. If the dash is cracked then the vinyl is probably dried out and fragile. About the time you get it repaired you may experience a crack someplace else during handling etc.

It's my understanding that the existing vinyl is removed and a new madrid vinyl skin is applied in a vacuum form.

Just Dashes does the same thing. Take off old skin and foam and replace with new foam and vinyl. There are a couple of problems with that. One they vinyl is harder than original, different grain, possably different shape on the edges, and they use black stock and dye it for colors. Second, the price is the same as buying new repos from Al knock.

          Russ,
so, are the ones from Al Knock correct in appearance, and material? I would prefer having the originals recovered rather than buy completely new ones. I really like the idea of keeping as many original parts as possible. Do you have comparison pictures? Thank you for your time.

George, I believe they say the repos from Al Knock are very good other than the grain may be slightly different. I think courser. I understand your feeling about keeping your original cores as I tend to feel that way also in most cases however in this case where your are removing the foam which can change the shape, I feel I would rather have a repo which is very close to the original shape.I think Al Knock is an expert on the shape versus a place like Just Dashes which does all makes and brands and doesn't specialize on just one. Also, and I haven't researched this, I think AL Knock's core is very close to the original. I don't have comparison picture. Hope this helps.
