Changing tachs from 5500 to 6500

Question: In a 65 Corvette, is it possible to install a 6500 redline tach into a instrument cluster that presently has a 5500 redline tach? Are there any wiring differences to the rear of the instrument cluster? Can the face of the tach be changed from 5500 to 6500? I would assume the 6500 tach would have to be re-calibrated to work properly?

The only differences in the tachs is the yellow and red arcs on the face of the tach. To change the redline, all you have to do is to change the tach face (or change to another tachometer that already has the higher redline face). No rewiring or recalibration of the tachometer is necessary.

Might want to add this to your list.

This is the one I would use.

I went to Bill Harrison's shop 2 weeks ago with a speedo from the '67 I'm working on. Bill fixed it up right there for me and did a great job. He also tested the other gauges for me on the spot before I put the cluster back together when I got it all back home. I also brought my original 56-57 gauges and left them for him to restore.

Bill is a super person to work with and I highly recommend him as well. BTW he has beautiful silk screening for original gauge faces, and he also does custom gauge faces using different colors(his white face conversion was gorgeous), MPH to KPH conversions and can add KPH screening to existing MPH faces. He showed me some pieces he just finished for some customers and his work is outstanding.

                    Google "Harrison Speedometer".
