I can tell you it is marked as discontinued in the December 1986 Parts History book. NO indication of where used, but at least before 1986.

Shows up in the 1981 price book as available then, with application codes 5123, eight to a package if I'm reading it correctly. '81 parts book for pass car says Group 1.516, applications smallblock v8, 68-69 Pass, '65-69 Chevelle, Camaro, pass car, smallblock, 70-75 smallblock all pass.

        Tim -

Sure looks like the '66-'67 upper tube with the necked-down section at the top, but I don't know what the production part number was.

Many applications. Primarily 1965-75 passenger cars with small block V-8 including full size passenger, Chevy II, Chevelle, and Camaro. Also used for 1975 and early 1976 Corvettes (since those also basically used the passenger car oil pan).

Thanks Bill, I appreciate the information. I am curious because it looks like the one on my 67 but the swaged top may not be as long on the 67.

Yes, it's similar. The PRODUCTION (and early SERVICE) part number of that tube was GM #3876784.

Thanks John and Joe & Ray,

Joe, when you say passenger cars that includes Corvette correct? If so this would be a replacement for my 67 327 300hp tube.

No, in this context "passenger cars" represents a shortening of the term "full size passenger cars" (i.e. Impala, Biscayne, etc.). This tube is not a correct, functionally or otherwise, tube for any pre-1975 Corvette. Of course, it could probably be used if the dipstick were "recalibrated" by stamping in new oil level markings (empirically determined).

This tube is correct for 1975 and early 1976 Corvettes. It could also be used for L1976-79 Corvettes if the corresponding dipstick were also used.
