Re: Glove Box Contents 1971
Lyndon,
Reba is right. The items are listed in the 70/72 JG. To clarify that list I can add some additional info.
Owner's manual - either first or second edition. Second editions are
dated feb 1971 so the changeover is around that time.
All original manuals had a Corvette news card so you
need a card or the stub should be present.
Warranty Folder woth Protect-o-plate w/ correct VIN etc.
Trim Ring Card. There is only one. It is dated 9-23-66 - # 3913832.
Consumer Information Booklet. 1971 Corvette has it's own unique
booklet.
Radio instruction sheet - 1971 is the last year for the radio sheet. Most
are part # 7306110 but #7310320 has been
seen on later cars. No radio sheet for 1972.
White key envelope - It is part # 3875313 abd has the rectangular key
on it. Originals have either one large or two small
daubs on the inside of the flap. Lots out there
with glue added. be careful.
Clear Plastic Envelope - Has rectangular key on it and is part
# 3950779 dated 3-19-68.
1972's have an Emissions Booklet and mid/late 72's have a seat bely sheet.
Hope that helps- Top

I might add that as the second owner of a '71 my key envelope did not have a part number or any other printing on it, but when I bought the car it was in the envelope with the owner's manual and warranty book and did have the knock-outs in it. I guess it is a unique item.- Top

90% of the key envelopes on ebay are reproductions. Look for the yellowed glue daubs on the flap if you want an original. Otherwise don't overpay for a reproduction.- Top

When I saw this thread, I could not resist checking Ebay. There is a guy selling one for $150.
So me being the smart a$$, emailed him that it looks just like the one I bought for 5 bucks, but its missing the glue daubs. He thanked me for the question and was going to get some elmers wood glue and smear on some daubs.

Re: Glove Box Contents 1971
Normal dealer new car preparation would include installing the valve stem extensions on the wheel. There goes whatever packaging there might have been.
Now if you decide to take your car to the guys who judge to the standard "as shipped from the factory" you ought to think some more about your situation. The 800 pound gorilla is that those judges don't judge to their own standard at that place. One of the better kept secrets in the Corvette world.Terry- Top
