    Al Knoch Seat Cushions Experience

    Hello;
    Does anyone have experience sending 56-57 seat cushions to Al Knoch for
    recovering. My cushions need some spring work and such. Let me know your experiences, if any.
    Thanks.

    Hi, I have seen their completed work; it is top flight. For about $1500 they will give you new springs, pads, and covers. In the alternative, you can buy the replacement springs and covers from them and put them together for yourself and save some. I have a 57 and I have this work yet to come. I live in CA and there is a show in June in LA. You can bring the seats there and they will restore them on site and return them in a day or so. There may be similar shows in your area. Good luck.

        Ken, a lot of our members use Al Knox for interior work. I was with a friend at a show in Knoxville last week. He brought his '59 seats and Knox installed his seat covers at this show. He paid in cash and saved shipping cost and received a discount. Just a tip to save you some money. I purchased a headliner for my '64 and saved some bucks as well. Good Luck.

          Gentlemen
          I'm the friend Dale refers to in his post. I had my 59 seats covered by Al Knoch in Knoxville. I am very satisfied with their work and am glad I didn't try these myself. I've done C-2s and C-3s ,but the C-1 is far more complicated.No matter how good you think you are at covering your seats every few years your no match for the pros at Al Knoch that do it every day.

            Some years ago I bought 62 seat frames and had Al Knoch completely redo them. They were to sand blast the frames, new springs and foam and new covers. When they returned them I noticed that there was still old foam stuck to the frame, so I questioned them about the sand blasting. I returned them and they redid them. I picked them up at Carlisle and a weld had broken in transit, so they re-welded them and touched up the paint. I have yet to install them. I should look to see if the repair is noticeable today.

              Ken,
              At the Sevierville show last week, I had Al Knoch install a new (dated) convertible top, new seat covers and pads for $1500. The seat frames were in good shape, but the original foam pads were shot. They also replaced the seat adjustment screws and chrome strip at the top of the seats. The quality of work is excellent and my 1970 Vette is ready for a new round of judging.

                Re: Al Knoch Seat Cushions Experience

                Thanks for the help guys. I sent them a set of seats last week. I am using them as spares to protect the original seats on my 56 original intereior car. They were kind enough to offer to cut the bottons down and the backs rearward to accomidate my 6'4 230 Lb. frame. I have not received them as of yet and will post when they have been tried.
                I just couldn't see myself putting my knee in the center of the beautiful
                original seat bottom and spinning around to sit my butt on the 55 year old springs.
                Thanks again.
