    Corvette Racers at RA for 100 Year Tribute

    From Hemmings;
    Corvette World Tribute to gather famous Corvette racers

    6 comments

    Corvette racing enthusiasts, mark your calendars: August 18-21 will be the ultimate celebration of competition Corvettes. A joint venture between Road America and Corvette Racing to celebrate Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary will bring out all the stars and cars that have made Corvettes some of the winningest cars in racing history. There will be noteworthy displays and presentations, a car corral, Corvette-specialty vendors and autograph sessions with some of the most famous Corvette drivers of all time, such as John Fitch, Dick Guldstrand, John Heinricy, Reeves Callaway, Ron Fellows and Tony DeLorenzo, among others. And the ALMS GT2 ZR1 Corvette racing team cars will be there, along with many of the most significant Corvette race cars ever built, including Dale Earnhardt’s Daytona C5, the 1968 SunRay DXL88, 1963 Grady Davis Z06 Sebring fuelie coupe, several noteworthy solid-axle race cars, and the 1986 Callaway Supernatural Le Mans car. This is a once-in-a-lifetime Corvette event that is not to be missed. To learn more, visit www.registryofcorvetteracecars.com.

    If you make it to RA gotta get the Brats and corn on the cob! The pic above is from Monterey. I was fortunate enough to make that and speak with a number of Corvette drivers back then. If you get the opportunity make this event at RA.

    WOW! Impressive, I would love to hear all the cars fire up and do a couple laps at speed! Wonder which one would win

    I always hit the ALMS race at LimeRock, the ground shakes as the C6R goes by coming off no name straight into turn 5-very nice!

      If you live in the midwest, or anywhere else for that matter, this would be the one to attend this summer. Road America and Corvettes. It doesn't get any better than that.

      By the way, my avatar pic is Road America, coming down the hill into "5".

        Already have my hotel room booked...One of the highlights will be the rebadging of the Corvette bridge on turn 6. (it is currently Toyota!). I have several pics taken from my then new '76 going under that "Corvette" bridge during a parade lap at the June Sprints. This promises to be a great event. As the post-war car hobby loses many of its' pioneers each year this may be one of the last times for such a gathering of significant cars & drivers.

          Corvettes and Can Ams always sounded so good there, especially in Thunder Valley. Cliff Tuft would be proud this summer.

            Unfortunately, the date is also the date for Monterey.

              Thank you Steve--first I'd heard of the event. I'll be there.....unless I no longer have a heartbeat. Now there's a grim thought if ever there was one. Wonder if I could get my C2 painted by then as it'll be going with me. Elkhart Lake in August.........doesn't get much better than that!
