    '64 Hardtop Restoration Question

Looking for the proper products to restore my '64 Hardtop. After removing the weather stripping and the stainless, there is a lot of rust along the front edge support member. In some places this metal support strip is rusted completely through the metal. This metal brace is hollow underneath, so there is room for the screws holding the stainless and the weather stripping in place. I want some type of rust preventer that I can get into this area under the screws to prevent it from rusting from the inside out. Is POR-15 thin enough to get into this small space? I need something really thin like WD-40, with its little nozzle to get inside this support.

I will also need to fill in the holes where its rusted completely through this brace. I will get a picture and post it latter.

Go to Eastwoods website. Look for "rust encapsulator"products.

I wanted to post this picture, its worth a thousand words. This is the leading edge of my hardtop. Lots of snow and salt in Ohio. My car has about 130,000 miles on it, but most of that was many years ago.

Will this flow into the small spaces? I was considering using Eastwood's Rust Dissolver to flow into the tight spaces inside the brace. Some spots I have a rusted through spot, but other places I only have small screw holes. Check out my picture. Thanks for your help. Dale

Ecansulator will help. But that metal is pretty far gone. Might need to pop some rivets and replace.

Michael, can I get a replacement for this brace? How does it connect to the fiberglass hardtop?

Michael, Eastwood recommended their internal frame coating product to get inside the area on this brace. I believe that I have sufficient metal left to prevent removing and replacing the entire brace. Thanks for your advice.
