54 gas tank

I need to replace my 54 fuel tank and I have not found a repro. Will a C2 tank fit? Any other recommendations to replace tank?

There's no way that a C2 fuel tank could be used.

Quanta only shows fuel tanks for 1956 and later C1 Corvettes. I do not understand that as I thought that, functionally, the C1 fuel tanks were interchangeable. But, I'll leave it to the C1 guys to pass judgement on that.

I had a repro on order for my '54 from Corvette Central for six months before they were told by their vendor that they would no longer be reproducing them. From what I understand many prefer to use a '57 repro tank (which is available) because it has baffles in it. You need to have the fitting on the bottom passenger's side installed in order to connect up the original design fuel lines. I also installed an inline fuel filter under the tank below the fitting.

i checked on 53-55 gas tanks a couple of months ago and grossmueller offered a stainless one. i think i was quoted $800.

Rock Valley Antique Auto makes a stainless steel tanks for 53 to 62 Corvettes.
A friend with a 54 used a Quanta 56-57 Corvette tank which fit after some minor bending of the flange. A cheap way to get a new tank in a 54.

use a 56 57 repro tank
works perfect
the wires to the sender will reach.
