Re: Al Knoch Door Panels
I bought my panels at Carlisle, think it was 1994. One of those specials if you buy now get a discount. I initially had an issue with the right door panel having tarnished trim. They replaced the panel without much fuss. Some time later I had a local upholstery shop install the seat foam and covers. An issue came up with the seam being wrong on the backside near the seat release button. I didn't try to test fit the panels until last summer, 16 years later. Both sides seem to have a problem with the hole for the lock shaft being misaligned. I was hoping someone here had the same problem and found a solution which didn't involve modifying my door.
These panels are rather expensive, hate to toss them but I may not have another option. It would be great if AK offered to assist in some way but after 16 years I have to admit that would be extraordinary customer support. I may revisit this issue over the summer, see if I can identify specifically what is off. Maybe figure out a way to fix them...
I bought my console from GM back in the 80's, no issues with it so far other than the shift plate being a tight fit.
