I can't get the ignition shield to fit over my 340 HP dual point distributor. On the back of the distributor, closest to the firewall, one of the point adjusting windows in the distributor cap sticks out and prevents the shield from slipping over the distributor.
Do I have the distributor in wrong (misaligned)?
Consider the face of a clock on the centerline of the car, with the firewall at 12 o'clock, and the front of the car at 6 o'clock. Where are the point adjusting windows supposed to be? I have the tachometer take-off positioned at 12 o'clock.
If the distributor were rotated so that the tachometer take-off were positioned at 1 o'clock, the window may be out of the way. But the tach cable would be crimped, and the other point distributor window would be blocked by the intake manifold.
