    trailing arm markings

Does anyone have a pic or a description of the trailing arm label or markings believed to be located on the front inside of the arm.

    Re: trailing arm markings

    Alger,
I am used to seeing a white ink date stamp on the inside of trailing arms on 1968-1972 Corvettes, but I am unfamiliar with a label. Of course, since there is a huge knowledge gulf on my part once one goes beyond 1968 or 1972 -- you may be looking for something else, or nothing at all.

Why not tell us what you know or expect rather than playing guessing games?

      Terry,

I need to reproduce the white ink stamp on the trailing arms of my '75. I have the part number, but lack info on the size and exact placement. What do you have on your car or have you seen on other cars? Do you have any pictures that my help me?

      Thanks,
      Tory

          Re: trailing arm markings

          Paul,
Thanks for your post. Great photo! I wrote part number, should be date code. Sorry.

Can you help me with the configuration of the date code? It appears the last four didgits are 1972. Is it: MAR 29 1972? Or something like that?

It appears the date is: three cap letters for the month/space/two digits for day/space/four digits for year

          Can you confirm the configuration?

That stamp is/was common back when. Ask any old librarian. They used to be readily available from office supply stores. Of course that was then.

BTW: Note the driver's side (shown) was upside down. The passenger's side is stamped right side up.

Wow, Terry. Thanks. I would have made them both upside down. Great catch!

Great information! Terry and or Tory...Do you have any idea if that ink stamp was used after 1972 or if the 75 era had any stamp at all? Tory... We can talk about the approach on our 75's Thanks, AL

I'm out of town for a week so I don't have the photo, but the date code on one of the orange 72 arms was "crossways" (or perpendicular) on the inside of the arm.

Can you please post the photo of the trailing arm stamp when you return? I'd really like to see it.

Send me an e-mail to remind me.

I can't remember anything when I'm on vacation.
