I've had about 18 7233 starters over my 37-year career with 62's. I think how you stated your question would adequately cover my concerns about the originality of that stamping. The original 11 also appears significantly shallower than the remainder of the part and date stamping.- Top

These are not at all common parts. Finding a real 7233 starter is quite difficult. That's why the question about this one. It is likely a reproduction/restamp. Reproducers are certainly not manufacturing starter cases--they have to take the existing numbers off, or at least part of them, and add the correct ones. That's what this one appears to be.- Top
