    1962 340 and 360 HP Voltage Regulator

Can anyone confirm that an AC Delco D-621 (1119168) voltage regulator will work with the 1102268 generator (35 amp) on 1962 340 and 360 HP Corvettes?

Reason I ask is that the original voltage regulator, 1119002E, is quite expensive. The D-621 version is still made. Rock Auto sells it for $15.87. I'm thinking I could put on old AC Delco imprinted cover on it.

If the 1119168 is rated for 35A (or higher service), I'm sure it'll work just fine. The '002E is a number's game issue that's, as you say, a STEEP price to pay for being factory concours correct. This is one of those areas where you have to question the economic benefit of going for the factory original part vs. a service substitute and taking the point deduction(s)...

I've found information that says this voltage regulator is for 32-37 amps.

Is the upper limit the controlling factor for interchange with voltage regulators? That is, are you saying I could use any voltage regulator that's designed for 35 amps?

You have correctly guessed what I'm trying to do. It's not cost/judging points effective to buy a 9002E voltage regulator, assuming I could find one (and I wanted to take out another mortgage). So what I wanted to do was buy a voltage regulator that would work, and put an old Delco cap on it. Yes, the base won't have the right numbers on it, but it'll look right. I'm hoping that a modern Delco voltage regulator will take one of their old caps.

I have another brand voltage regulator in there now. But an old Delco cap won't fit.
