    67 L-79 a/c compressor bracket spacer

On page UPC C1 of the AIM there are 4 washer(spacers) called for (#19). The part number is 3706737. In a prior thread I recall that it was mentioned that they were .180 in thickness but I don't recall any mention of their diameter. The center hole accomodates a 3/8 bolt.
Can anyone give me the outside diameter of this washer, the type of finish and a source to obtain them? I have already tried the usual suppliers with no results.
    Thanks
    Neal

    Neal----

GM #3706737 was 13/32" ID, 3/4" OD, and 3/16" thick. I don't know the finish but I expect it was either natural or black phosphate.

      Hi Neal,

I believe this is a flat steel washer (UPC C60-C1, Item 19, GM #3706737) and has the following dimensions: 13/32" ID, 3/4" OD, 3/16" thick

Any suggestions on where to obtain these washers?

              Neal-----

The GM part was discontinued in 1971, so there probably aren't too many NOS left out there. I checked McMaster-Carr and they don't offer a washer of this size. However, I'll bet there are some out there as manufactured by some source.

                Neal,

I see AMK Products mentioned here on the forum occasionally as a good source for automotive fasteners of many types, might be worth checking:

                  Neal:

Checkout Long Island Corvette #34-31. Not certain if this is what you need, but it appears to be close.

                    Neal -

Long Island Corvette Supply includes those two washers in their item #34-14 compressor bolt kit ($3.00); you'll need two kits to get all four washers.

                      Re: 67 L-79 a/c compressor bracket spacer

                      John and Larry,
I had spoken to Long Islan Corvette about these washer/spacers. They told me that their #34-14 and 34-04 kits come with regular flat washers. They were unfamiliar with the special washer/spacer application for the 1967 L-79 as shown in the AIM. They suggested the washer/spacer that is in their kit #35-12d and sent me 4 of them(for free---imagine that!). These washer/spacers are the right OD and ID but the thicknes is only .120 which is a little less than 2/16 thick. (As an aside I am of the thought that the 1/16 difference in thickness probably won't be that critical in the overall alignment of the compressor pulley with the water pump and crank pulleys).
I will call LIC back and check out the washer spacer in kit #34-31. I see in the AIM that all of the washer/spacers specified for the various compressor mounting brackets had different part numbers which leads me to the conclusion that they were engineered for specific applications and do not have the same dimensions.
Scott, Thanks for the AMK products lead. I have some other hardware needs that they might be able to fullfill as well.
