    62 RPO 242 and T-Fitting-is it used?

    1962 4 speed 340 HP.
    RPO 242 Special crankcase ventilation.

I have looked at Nolands Book (page 365), and the AIM section 242 sheet 2, as well as the archives and I am still unclear if the Tee fitting (444148) shown in the diagram is used. I am finding conflicting information in all of these sources.

Carb Adapter --> Tee-FITTING--> right angle adapter -->PCV valve -->hose

    Is the TEE used?

If the Tee is used, do you know of any sources for the correct plug that goes in it?

    Thanks,

    Tony

    Tony,

    Here's a pic of my '61 w/RPO 242 (293/230 PG car).
    Hope it helps!

      Thanks Peter.

I am pretty sure that if the car is an automatic, the Tee is used, however, with a 4-speed I am not sure if the TEE is used, and if it is, a plug goes in the side hole.

      Thanks,

      Tony

Where would it "T" to? A 340HP is centrifugal advance distrib only, so the only vacuum would be to the washer system. 250 and 300HP would use the T because it is a vacuum advance system.

Yes exactly it is not needed. However, the AIM diagram section 242 sheet 2 shows the tee with a plug in the extra opening.

Since it was not needed, it was not clear why to even have the Tee there, and was it really there.
