    Hello Howie,

I have not used Advanced Plating, but I've heard a lot of good things about them. They were featured several years ago on one of the Spike TV car/truck programs (MuscleCar, I think). They took a license plate trim piece that was only 60% there and rebuilt it. Thier shop is modern and thier activities are workmanlike. It appears that they know what they are doing. When I'm doing my next batch of chrome it will probably be between them and Paul's Chrome.

Have used both Advanced and Paul's Chrome. My choice would be Paul's. Excellent job and timely. Advanced tended to "overplate" meaning the plating was thick and mating pieces no longer fit together correctly.

Yes, a great operation. They do show chrome for some of the best Hot Rods in North America. www.timelesshotrod.com had 3200+ plated parts done by Advanced Plating.

"Trucks" recently did a show about Avanced Plating. Their equipment was pretty much wiped out by a flood last year. The whole operation was rebuilt and is up and runing. They plated a grill in copper for a 50 chevy pick up.

I used them for the rear bumpers on my 66 and they are very well done as compared to the crap job Tri-City plating did for me on the fronts. I got an over the phone estimate from Paul's and almost fell of my stool in the shop.
Advanced was reasonable and I will use them again for my next plating job.
I have a lot of respect for Steve Lavigne's opinion as I have seen the work he does so my advice is to make sure you discuss over plating with whoever calls you back from Advanced with your estimate.
            Stay far away from Tri-City

Jerry, I have not used Advanced Plating in Nashville but I have used S & H who is also located in Nashville, Tennessee. The folks at S & H were very nice and I was well pleased with the work they did for me and the time line. They are located at 817 Madison Industrial Road; Madison, Tennessee 37115. Their phone number is 615-865-0100. Their full name is S & H Plating & Powder Coat. They also have a web site. I have had friends who used both. A couple of them told me that Advanced Plating was a fair amount more expensive. Both do excellent work. I wish you all the best with your restoration. Brooks Glover (2141)

I use both Advanced in Nashville and Tri Cities in Elizabethton TN. Advanced has done quite a bit of pot metal for me and I am very happy with their work. They have never destroyed detail on pot metal, which many platers do. I hope they continue this practice as I have several almost "unobtainable" pieces there now.

Tri Cities does chrome that is comparable in quality to the OEM work we accepted 40 years ago. One word of caution though, clean up the backs of the items you send them. They will plate over rust on the backs.

                  Dick,
I my experience with Tri- City was a nightmare. I gave them my front bumpers (66) at the Raleigh NC fall car show at the state fair grounds and they suggested I could pick them up at spring Charlotte Auto Fair to save on shipping, since I wasn't in a hurry I said OK. When I went to pick them up they had no bumpers and no clue what I was talking about.
So I called the following Monday and was told they hadn't got to them yet! I pointed out it had been over six months and was told it would be another month.
Well two months later I got them and a quarter size piece of chrome came off, right in my hand off the top front face off the left bumper as I tried to install it on the car. When I called I was told to return it - No mention of a I'm sorry we screwed up or we will pay for shipping - Just return it. Well I did and I'll be damned if when I tried to install it the second time if all the chrome didn't come of one side of the lower mounting bracket.
Burned three time by these people was enough for me!
                  Pete
