63 Speedometer Cable Trouble

I hope that I am missing something simple. I can not get the seedometer cable hooked back up to the back of the cluster. I get the square cable inside then for some reason I can not get the threads started. It is as if the square cable inside is to long and preventing me from threading it on. This is not the first time that I have put it on so I know it can be done.

Any help would stop my frustration and the kink in my neck from laying upside down for the last hour.

If it feels like the threaded cap hasn't reached the threads then perhaps you haven't got the square cable lined up with the speedo head. Try turning the square end of the cable and insert it again. If the cluster is in place it is difficult to install take your time.

Bob thanks for the response.

I do have the cluster loose, just changed the wiring harness which went so easy, I knew something would throw a kink in it.

The cable will not spin due to it being installed at the other end. I will crawl back under today and give it another try, I was hoping that I was just missing something simple.
