I purchased brackets for my '65 front exhaust shield where the holes are pre-drilled. The car was missing the brackets when purchased. The AIM was not clear how the bracket attaches. I can see the bracket attaches in the front but can't tell whether it goes around the pipe or attaches to something else. Does someone have a good photo of how it attaches? Is the bracket for the purpose of stopping the shield from rattling? Thanks, Larry

The brackets are riveted to the outside of the covers, as shown in your Assembly Manual, section N14, sheet 3, View "B". The top end of the bracket is attached with a screw that goes through a drilled hole in the inner fender and splash shield flange, into a U-nut (also shown in View "B"). The bracket stabilizes the front curved portion of the cover and prevents rattles.Attached Files- Top
