I am in the process of finishing the body on my 64 roadster. The question I have is if the factory body seams are in good shape, no cracks, should I do anything to them? I have heard everything from grinding, and fiberglassing, to doing nothing. I just thought I would see what everyone here thinks. Thanks!!!

Re: 1964 corvette body seam prep.
Michael,
I wouldn't touch a thing, every thing that as going to happen to them has probably already happened.
I have never had that problem on any C2 cars and think the material they used back then did a good job.

Re: 1964 corvette body seam prep.
Michael,
I second Dom's response. I repainted my '64 convertible in 1980; stripped it to the bare glass and found little to no body damage and no seam damage. I did nothing to the original body seams. We used a product called "Feather Fill" and finished the car in its original Riverside Red color using single stage urathane. It still looks excellent today and I still have no seen one body seam show through to this day. It's all in the prep work.
