The "HO" suffix code also identifies it as an original Powerglide equipped car.

I don't know that I'd trade the valve covers straight across. I think I'd keep them and, if you wish, just purchase a set of the original configuration steel covers. You should be able to pick-up a restorable set of these pretty cheap on eBay or swap meets.

You definitely don't want to trade the intake manifold straight across for the cast iron piece you need. The aluminum manifold is worth a lot more than the cast iron.

However, if you're going to maintain the car as a THM conversion, I would not be too concerned about getting the engine compartment 100% correct. Especially if your main intention is to drive it and show it at local car shows where 100% originality is not critical, I'd keep the valve covers and intake manifold you have on it now.

Agreed. Joe hit the nail on the head.

Steel valve covers are worth about 1/4 what the aluminum ones are, and the ratio with intakes is probably similar.

Right now you've got a very sharp car which will drive well. Unless you want to spend a bunch of $ on it, I'd leave it alone and drive it. The vast majority of people that see the car will never know it's not 100% correct as all the underhood parts + side exhaust appear correct. And, they can't see the transmission.

If you do decide to return the car to original there are two pretty complete corvette powerglide set-ups on Ebay right now. One is resonably priced.

Your getting som good advice here and I would vote to keep it as is if your going to keep the trans in you have.

Thank you all for your comments, thoughts and suggestions. I really do not want to mess with the car and change the dynamics of performance. It is the smoothest driving Vette I have driven in a long time. I am not after winning a national show....could not possibly compete at that level....buying a trailer, worried about any possible person getting near enough to scratch,etc. I would get into it with a judge somewhere along the line. It cranks up...always...never have to fiddle with the choke on a cold day. I have done reasonably well in local shows when a judge knows what he is doing and not voting for his buddies....or a local car club votes for each others' cars.....hate those shows and stopped attending. I was asked if I wanted it to be part of a calendar for a local shop. I am reasonably pleased.
